Prayer for Holy Cross Church
Heavenly Father, we ask that you help us to grow in faith, love one another, share responsibility, care for those in need, reach out to others and welcome newcomers. Lord Jesus, guard and grow this church as we seek you together during the interregnum. Please guide us in all our work for your kingdom so that together we may discover your way for the future and see your kingdom grow. Amen

Thought for the week: Tell me the old, old story.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Many people meet the Christian faith through stories. They may hear the Christian story through the school nativity play or through seeing a programme on the television. Or they may even hear the story of Jesus through somebody who calls themselves a Christian. To encounter the Christian faith is to encounter the story of what God has done through Christ. When was the last time you shared the story of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection with someone?

All inclusive Songs of Praise Service - to commemorate the 80 year anniversary of the start of World War 2 - Sunday 15th September 2019 at 6.00 pm
Sadly we have only just finished marking the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1. Let us remember all those who had to endure living through both World Wars with only a very fragile peace in between. This service is an opportunity through hymns we all know and love, readings, poems and songs of the era for us to reflect on the significance of that fragile 20 year period of peace being shattered in September 1939. Danetre Ukulele Orchestra will be playing some popular songs of the day for us all to join in with and we hope to welcome the choir from one of the local primary schools. We will find out more about a Holy Cross Curate who served in WW2 and about what it was like to be an evacuee. Angela Squire will be leading the service. Everyone welcome.
